Just One Drink

Blurring the lines between fact and fiction
I take another sip
This fine liquid numbing my senses
As the ice melts and dilutes my escape
I contemplate a refill but it seems like too much trouble
Tilting my head back, gulping with a grimace
The pain begins to subside as the room starts its familiar spin
This is a pattern I have fallen into lately
A wicked grin across my face
Holding your photo in my lap
I begin to feel no feeling at all
